Docking in Hamburg on July 15 and coming ashore brought back memories of my publishing past. I used to send YA mystery and horror manuscripts to Cora Verlag, housed at Axel-Springer Platz 1. As soon as we boarded a cab and headed for the airport from the cruise terminal we passed the building. During the days when I was FEDEXing manuscripts and later emailing manuscripts to my editor, I used to have nightmares about her showing up on my doorstep in Tucson. But never in my wildest dreams did I imagine driving past the building. And that’s what actually happened.
We actually brought copies of a few of these books back to Germany. We left them on a shelf in the hallway of the Hotel Lenz in Fulda.
